WE TAKE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY SERIOUSLY

One of Wild Country’s priorities is the wellbeing of everyone who makes our products, not just our own employees. We work hard to ensure safe and fair working conditions by empowering workers and creating sturdy relationships with our partners.

ETHICAL SOURCING

Our Code of Conduct (CoC) is our prerequisite for the collaboration with our suppliers. Each and every supplier has to sign and commit to it. It outlines the principles we stand for and it is a tool for suppliers and workers to know their rights.

We don’t tolerate child labour, ever.

All employees must be treated with respect and dignity.

People must be employed based on their ability and never discriminated against.

The employment relationship must be formally established in a written contract.

Working conditions must be decent and safe.

Hours of work should be reasonable and overtime must be paid.

Employees must choose to work, not be forced to work.

Employers must pay a living wage.

Workers have the right to join unions.

HOW IT WORKS?

WE TAKE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY SERIOUSLY

One of Wild Country’s priorities is the wellbeing of everyone who makes our products, not just our own employees. We work hard to ensure safe and fair working conditions by empowering workers and creating sturdy relationships with our partners.

FAIR WEAR FOUNDATION

Wild Country is a member of Fair Wear Foundation (FWF), the most rigorous labour conditions expert that we know of. FWF is an independent non-profit that works with brands to improve labour conditions in the garment industry. We work with them to make step-by-step improvements for the workers who make the clothes we sell. They help us keep factories monitored and they also assess our progress through a yearly Brand Performance Check.

We have been members of FWF since 2016 and we achieved the prestigious Leader status in 2017 as a result of out exceptional work. In 2020, we were confirmed Leaders for the 4th year in a row.

What exactly does Wild Country do to promote safe and fair working conditions for all factory workers?

• We screen all potential new suppliers for human rights criteria

• All our suppliers sign and commit to our Code of Conduct

• Through FWF, we send an incognito team of local experts to factories to interview workers anonymously about factory conditions.

• We audit the factories with the support of 3rd party experts, who then write a report on their findings and send it to FWF and us

• We turn these results into an action plan and we work with the supplier to agree on how to solve these problems together. We periodically follow-up and check each factory is addressing the problems to be solved.

• We visit our factories regularly to check the conditions in person and we organize factory trainings, both for managers and workers, to improve awareness and empowerment

• FWF has an anonymous hotline number and email address workers can use to report problems

• We collaborate with other brands who source in the same factories to join forces and address problems together. Partnering helps us increase our power to make positive impact.

In 2019, we controlled 96% of our textile production for working conditions.
